Impact evaluation of the Proagro and Bienestar programs on income in rural households in the Gulf-central region of Mexico
Abstract
This paper reviews the effect on the income of rural households to beneficiaries of the PROAGRO and Bienestar programs (Guarantee Prices, Sowing Life and Production for Bienestar) through the “Kernel Matching” application, to calculate the impacts shown in the Average Treatment Effects both at the National level and in the region Golfo-Centro of Mexico. The objective is to carry out impact evaluations per six-year program on income due to the application of said public policies. Data from the National Household Income and Expenditure Survey (ENIGH) from the years 2016 and 2022 are used. The results show that the impacts turn out to be statistically significant in both programs, although they are higher in the Bienestar programs.
