Nearshoring y ventaja comparativa de las exportaciones de la industria automotriz en las entidades federativas de México
Abstract
The objective of this document is to analyze the performance of exports of the automotive industry and its comparative advantage at the state level, as well as foreign direct investment (FDI) within the framework of the nearshoring strategy. It is proposed that the states with a comparative advantage in automotive exports are also the largest recipients of foreign direct investment and, therefore, the ones that register the highest number of new automotive projects in the period 2021-2024. The comparative advantage of automotive exports at the state level is calculated and through a panel data model, the relationship between FDI flows and the comparative advantage of automotive exports in the period 2007-2022 is identified. A positive relationship between these two variables is confirmed.
