Salary differential by gender between the public and private formal-informal sector in Mexico
Abstract
Objective is to analyze the salary differences in the public and private labor market, given the personal and labor characteristics of the workers, and whether these are due to attributes of human capital or different income. Performing the analysis for samples of women and men separately and by gender throughout the salary distribution. With methodology of Fortin, Lemieux y Firpo (2011). Working in the public sector has important salary advantages for women in the low-wage group. In public sector, the differences are explained by productive characteristics and private sector they respond to the part not explained by the productive attributes.
